Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa is the tallest free-standing mountain in the world sitting at an elevation of 19,341 feet/5,895 meters. Climbing and reaching the summit is challenging, 25% of those attempting the 5 day climb will not reach the peak. With a name meaning ‘mountain of caravans’ or ‘mountain of greatness’ it’s no wonder so many people attempt this feat each year.
I’m committed to climb Kilimanjaro in August this year. I’ve done my research, I will train to be physically fit for the climb. While I cannot control the effects of high elevation, weather or winds, I am up to this challenge and invite you to support me in my trek by pledging to a charity important to me.
I serve as President on the Board of Directors for the Miracle-Ear Foundation, a non-profit founded in 1990. The Foundation, through Miracle-Ear stores across North America, provide hearing aids and after-care services for low income adults and children in need of hearing healthcare. Last year our Foundation provided nearly 1,000 hearing aids to over 500 individuals in communities across the country and have helped them connect in school, with family, in the workplace, and in life. It’s our intention to grow this program to help more people who do not have access and resources for their hearing health.
To show my support of this great organization, I am dedicating this trek as a Hike for Hearing and I ask you to make a donation to this great cause. Please consider a pledge and make a donation. All funds raised will help support the mission activities of the Miracle-Ear Foundation and is 100% tax-deductible.
